ZnamIQ Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data the ZnamIQ app (Android app id app.znamiq) processes, why, and what rights you have. It describes the app as it works today.
1. Who is responsible
ZnamIQ is operated by Stanislav Stoyanov in Spain. Stanislav Stoyanov is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
Privacy contact: support@znamiq.app
2. Using ZnamIQ without an account
You can play solo quizzes without signing in. In that case:
- Your category ratings and your chosen app language are stored only on your device.
- Your quiz answers are scored on your device and are not sent to us.
- The app downloads quiz questions from our backend. These requests do not contain an account or your answers, but our backend provider receives technical connection data, such as your IP address, as described in section 4.
Data stored on your device stays there until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
3. Using ZnamIQ with an account
Signing in is needed for cloud ratings and for duels. When you are signed in, we process the following data on our backend.
Account and sign-in
- Your email address and an internal account id.
- Sign-in happens by a link or a one-time code sent to your email. ZnamIQ does not use passwords.
- Sign-in session data, stored on your device and on the backend, so that you stay signed in until you sign out.
Ratings
- Your ZnamIQ rating for each category you have played, with the time it was created and last changed.
- When you first sign in, ratings stored on your device are copied to your account only if the account has no ratings yet. The device remembers that this check was done for your account id.
Signed-in solo quizzes
For each quiz: the category, the questions you were given, your rating at the start, the start, expiry and completion times, the answer you selected for each question (or that the time ran out), whether each answer was correct, the number of correct answers and the resulting rating change.
Username
The username you choose and the time it was set. A username is needed for duels and direct challenges, not for solo play.
Duels
- Matchmaking searches: when you search, your app language at that time, the search status and its start and end times.
- Duels you play: the category, the question language, start and end times and how the duel ended; your answers, recorded as you submit them or as the time runs out; your current question and when it was shown; the time of your last contact with the duel (the app checks in while you play, so the duel can wait for you if you are interrupted); the number of questions answered and correct; your result; and your opponent's final score.
- Direct challenges: who sent the challenge and to whom, the sender's app language, the status (pending, accepted, declined, cancelled or expired) and the related times.
What other players can see
Your username is shown to other players in direct challenges, duel results and duel history, together with the final score and result of duels you played with them. Another player can send you a challenge if they know your exact username. In random matchmaking, your username is not shown to your opponent before the duel starts. Other players never see your email address.
Question statistics
When a signed-in quiz or a duel answer is recorded, we also update a per-question count of how many times the question was answered and how many times correctly, with the time it was last answered. These counts are stored per question, not per player, and are used to assess how difficult questions are.
4. Technical data
Whenever the app connects to our backend, the backend provider necessarily receives technical connection data, such as your IP address and request details, and may record them in its service and security logs.
5. What ZnamIQ does not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- The app contains no advertising and no analytics or third-party tracking tools.
- The app does not offer purchases or subscriptions.
- The app does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
6. Service providers
We use these providers to run ZnamIQ. They process personal data on our behalf and only for the purposes below.
| Provider | Role | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Backend: database, sign-in and server functions | All account, rating, quiz and duel data described in section 3, the question statistics, and technical data |
| Resend | Delivery of sign-in emails | Your email address and the sign-in email (link and code) |
| Namecheap | Email forwarding for the znamiq.app domain | Emails you send to support@znamiq.app |
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it.
7. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the app and your account (sign-in, ratings, quizzes, usernames, duels, challenges, duel history and account deletion): necessary to provide the service you ask for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Keeping the service secure and working (technical data, preventing misuse, server-side scoring): our legitimate interest in a reliable and fair game (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Question statistics: our legitimate interest in keeping questions at the right difficulty (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Answering your requests sent to support@znamiq.app, including requests to exercise your rights: necessary to provide the service, and to meet our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).
8. How long we keep data
- Account data (section 3) is kept while your account exists and is deleted when you delete your account. Inactive accounts are not deleted automatically.
- After account deletion, some data that no longer identifies you remains, as explained on the Delete Account page.
- Device data stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- Backups and logs kept by our providers may contain deleted data until they are replaced or expire under the provider's own cycle.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up.
9. Security
The app connects to the backend over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database access rules let the app reach only the data it is allowed to: players cannot read other players' accounts or write their own ratings, and quizzes and duels are scored on the server. ZnamIQ does not store passwords. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
10. International processing
Our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer relies on safeguards recognised by the GDPR, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses offered by the provider.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access your personal data and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted (you can also delete your account yourself, see Delete Account);
- restrict or object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- receive the data you provided in a portable format.
To exercise these rights, write to support@znamiq.app from the email address of your account. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address. We answer within one month, as the GDPR requires.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Spain, this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before ZnamIQ starts any new processing of personal data. The effective date at the top shows the current version.
